“End Citizens United: Fighting Against “Anything Goes” Campaign Finance” featured on reporterexpert.com puts forth a growing concern among the many political activists and advocates who understand the landmark decision that came from Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.
In fact, much of the work that is being done by End Citizens United is directly centered around that decision. Tiffany Muller who founded the public action committee has seen the far-reaching implications if such a decision were allowed to grow unchecked. This entire situation means that PACs like End Citizens United are the only things that stand between the booms of big business in the political process.
The reason the decision is so concerning is that it allowed corporations to take on the same freedom of speech rights that individuals receive under the current government. This is concerning for several reasons. The first is that corporations will now have the ability to anonymously support whatever candidates they see fit. This allows them to throw their weight behind several political campaigners without having to divulge that support. That means that voters are looking at and they are candidates with a blind spot because they’re not able to see who is providing them with support and background. The second concern builds off of the first one being that these corporations are now able to contribute a virtually unlimited amount of money towards the campaigns of the individuals that they support. This is very concerning and widens the blind spot initially expect to be produced by such an event.

End Citizens United has been fighting against the suspicions and so was initially conceived. While they formed in 2015 after the 2010 decision, the individual members of the committee have been voicing their outrage about the decision for many years. They believe that this public action committee will help to mitigate much of the damage being done by the new amendment. They simply need to maintain their funding efforts and fight for a change in the law. While they know that the change in the law can take a bit of time, their funding efforts have been quite successful. In their first year of fundraising, they were able to finish out with $25 million in financing for their supported candidates. They are hopeful that their next cycle will be the even more profitable and they have plans to generate more than $35 million in donations for the 2018 candidates.
