Gunepi Yokoi, a man of true brilliance, was not only the mastermind behind the Metroid Series, but was also known for his great contributions to Nintendo. Having passed away on October 4th, 1997 due to fatal injuries in a car crash, he has left an impact on the fans of his video game productions and merchandise. Yokoi grew up in Kyoto and graduated from Doshinsha University with a degree in electronics. As he began looking for jobs, he was hired by Hiroshi Yamauchi in 1965 to maintain the assembly line that made Nintendo's famous Hanafunda cards. Throughout his career he invented very successful merchandise and was the producer for several famous video games, some of which are listed below.
